At the age of 15, Aaliyah Haughton, better known simply as Aaliyah, became one of the most promising new stars in R&B with her double-platinum debut album Age Ain't Nothing but a Number. By the summer of 2001, the 22-year-old showbiz veteran was promoting her third disc after successfully breaking into the movies with a role in the action hit Romeo Must Die, and she'd been cast in two projected sequels to The Matrix. But a plane crash in the Bahamas on August 25th, 2001 , while returning home from a video shoot brought a tragic end to the life and career of this gifted young singer and actress.
